NerdSip Day One - From Whiteboard to Waitlist

Every product starts somewhere. For NerdSip, it started with a whiteboard, a cup of coffee, and a question: Why does learning feel like a chore?

We've all been there. You download a course, watch the first video, maybe the second... and then it sits in your "I'll get to it later" folder forever. The content is good. The intention is there. But life gets in the way, and that 4-hour lecture isn't competing well with everything else demanding your attention.

That's the problem we're solving with NerdSip — a micro learning app that distills knowledge into daily sips. Personalized. Designed for the way modern brains actually work.

What We Built Today

Yesterday was Day One. Not "planning day" or "thinking about it day." Actual build day. Here's what we shipped:

Whiteboard Session Complete

Mapped out core user flows, learning loops, and the personalization architecture.

Repository & Tech Stack Locked

Monorepo structure with shared backend, web marketing site, and mobile app.

Logo v1 Designed

First draft of the NerdSip brand identity — clean, modern, memorable.

Webpage Live

Landing page deployed with waitlist signup.

You're reading it. Building in public starts now.

The Tech Stack

We're building for speed, scalability, and developer happiness. Here's what's under the hood:

🛠️ Our Stack

Frontend (Web)

Vite + React + TypeScript + Tailwind CSS + Framer Motion

Frontend (Mobile)

React Native + Expo for iOS & Android

Hosting

Cloudflare Pages + Convex Cloud

Workflow

GitHub Flow — feature branches, local merge to main

Why this stack? React Native + Expo means we ship to both app stores from one codebase. And Vite keeps our web dev loop under 200ms — perfect for a learning app where progress needs to feel instant.

The Logo Story

A brand is more than a logo, but the logo matters. We wanted something that felt:

The first draft is done. It'll evolve, but having something real makes everything else feel more tangible. A product without a face is just an idea.

Why Build in Public?

We're documenting this journey for a few reasons:

Accountability. When you tell people what you're building, you have to actually build it.

Community. The best products are shaped by early users. If you're reading this, you're already part of the story.

SEO. Let's be real — content drives traffic. Every post we write helps people discover NerdSip. If you're interested in micro learning, check out our deep dive on how leaderboards accelerate learning.

What's Next

Day Two is about to begin. On the roadmap:

This is just the beginning. Every great app started as a commit on an empty repo. Today, NerdSip is real. Tomorrow, it'll be realer.
