Reinbek, Germany - September 21, 2026 - NerdSip, a micro-learning app for iOS and Android, has reached 10,000 registered users six months after its launch in March 2026. The microlearning app turns any topic a person types in into a short course of 3, 5 or 10 lessons. Each lesson takes about one minute to read and ends with a quiz question. A typical course takes about five minutes.

Growth picked up over the summer: NerdSip had about 5,000 registered users at the end of July 2026, and that number doubled in under two months.

NerdSip is built as an alternative to social media and doomscrolling. Its main benefit is that users build strong general knowledge, a few minutes at a time. The app is aimed at adults who want to use spare phone time for learning instead of scrolling through feeds. Users type in a topic, such as black holes or the history of coffee, and receive a course made for them in seconds. The company also publishes a guide to the best apps to replace social media, which compares 12 apps for people who want to stop doomscrolling.

"Most people do not want to quit their phone. They want to feel better about the time they spend on it," said Philip Sergelius, Founder and CEO of NerdSip. "Ten thousand people have now chosen to learn something small instead of scrolling. Our job is to make sure that what they learn is both interesting and correct."

A proprietary recommendation algorithm

Ready-made micro-learning courses reach users through a swipeable feed. NerdSip has developed a proprietary recommendation algorithm for this feed. It weighs each user's own interests together with the courses other learners rated highly and the topics that are trending in the app. The aim is to show each person the courses they are most likely to find interesting, including subjects they would not have searched for.

A four-step fact-checking process

Because the courses are written with AI, NerdSip runs a four-step fact-checking process. Every course is grounded in live Google Search results when it is written. Automated quality checks score the course library every night. Courses that are flagged for review are held back from the feed. When a user reports a problem, a person reviews the course and can correct or remove it. The full process is described on the features page.

Quizzes, review and four languages

Every lesson ends with a multiple-choice question, so readers can check what they remember. A review mode called Memory Mix and a weekly recap quiz bring back material from earlier courses, so that the knowledge lasts. Daily streaks and weekly leagues are part of the app as well. NerdSip is available in four languages: English, German, Spanish and Portuguese.

The app is currently rated 4.7 out of 5 stars across the App Store and Google Play. NerdSip is free to download, with an optional subscription called NerdSip Gold. It is available on the App Store and on Google Play.
